PARTICIPATORY EVENT conducted by Seçil Uğur Yavuz and Alastair Fuad-Luke, together with BITZ Fablab, at Fablabnet event, in Trento.
During the Fablabnet event in Trento in April 2019, we built a tool which helps participants to knit a stretch sensor. While crafting the sensor, it generates an interactive visual outcome. The tool has two parts that invite participants to “learn” and “apply”. In the learning part, there is a video tutorial that shows various ways to use lucet tools to knit a stretch sensor. In the application part, the final result is connected to an Arduino which sends the data to Processing software to generate a visual animation of the actions that take part in the making process. The immediate visual outcome helps participants to engage with crafting in a more engaging way, connecting the physical making process with both physical and digital outcome.
